EXPLORING THE EAST - PART II
On our last day in Raja Ampat, we started the day early to go to Painemo. If you have seen pictures of Raja Ampat, you might have seen this majestic view of the island rock chain. From our resort where we stayed, the boat ride took us about two hours. But since the ocean is so calm it was a smooth ride.
Upon entering the Painemo area we were greeted with clear turquoise water surrounding the coral rocks. Docking on the little jetty we trekked up to the viewpoint. The walk up itself is about 200 steps but it is a quick one and when you reach the top, we were greeted by the breathtaking view! So it was well worth it. Taking in the beauty of the landscape you truly realize that travel is for the soul and no postcard can capture the majesty of nature.
After our trek down, we decided to jump into the water for a cool down and floated around. The water was a bit milky that day so we could not snorkel around, but we sure made up for that.
Next stop on our itinerary was a village called Arborek. Upon arrival we were immediately amazed by the clarity of the water and its marine life. Fish were everywhere to see and we jumped right in with our snorkel gear and mermaid fins and explored the underwater life. Besides going for a dip in the water, you can also visit the cultural village of Arborek and see how the people there live. What always amazes me is the smiles you see on all the people when we come and visit. They welcome all visitors and especially the children are always so excited to greet travellers.
We returned back to our resort and finished off a beautiful trip with setting Sky Lanterns into the Sky. Again, I cannot emphasize more how important it is for the soul to travel and make memories as those are priceless and will stay with us forever.
Raja Ampat is an amazingly breathtaking island chain and besides the places we have seen there is much more to see. We will definitely be back! Watch our video to get inspired and see what we experienced in the east.
